Automatic edge banding machines are automated equipment used for edge banding of panels in panel furniture production. They are primarily used in the furniture manufacturing industry, with representative manufacturers including Qingdao Yongqiang, Guangdong Nanxing, and German company HOMAG. The equipment is divided into two categories: straight edge banding and curved edge banding. Domestic manufacturers mainly produce straight edge banding models, while curved edge banding technology is still largely dominated by foreign companies.

Automatic edge banding machines mainly consist of a machine body, a processing unit, and a control system. The core modules cover functions such as pre-milling, gluing, end trimming, and contour tracking. The machine body mostly uses aluminum alloy or cast iron beams, with high-precision aluminum alloy frames being widely used in the industry. The processing unit is driven by CNC modules, and the control system generally uses PLC technology from brands such as LG and Siemens. Due to the high requirements for precision mechanics and program coordination, only a few domestic companies have mature solutions for contour tracking technology. Laser edge banding technology was first introduced by German company HOMAG in 2010, offering higher environmental standards and aesthetics, but it has not yet become widespread in China.

Some manufacturers have developed fully automatic PUR edge banding machines, employing a no-clean glue pot technology to achieve odorless, environmentally friendly, and precise glue application. The intelligent control system supports machine setup via barcode scanning and real-time data transmission, adapting to customized production needs. The equipment can be combined with other machinery to form automated production lines, improving furniture manufacturing efficiency.
